Urban youth were fully engaged in successful 5 month workshop

Student Jesus Rangel with
Art Instructor David Heredia.
The Imagine Change Initiative was created by The South Bay Center for Counseling. One of its programs, The Urban Arts Center contracted David Heredia of Heredia Designs in April 2011 for a period of 5 months to create a custom curriculum that ranged from Graffiti Art, Fine Art to Computer Art. The program then ended with a culminating art gallery show. In an effort to help youth get off of the gang infested streets of Wilmington, CA and into the recreation center to express their creativity through art, David created fun in class assignments and hands on experience for all the youth who attended. The workshop serviced youths aged 16-24. David felt that it was a mutually beneficial experience and openly expresses that the workshops were more than just making art, it was about making a connection with today's youth.
