I was the invited guest speaker at The Rio Norte Junior High School in Santa Clarita this morning. Wow, what an event! I spoke with the students about animation, and other art related career options. I spoke about networking and the importance of keeping your integrity not only as an artist but as an individual. What started out as a 35 minute talk, easily rolled into a 90 minute presentation. I was fortunate to have four other teachers sit in on the presentation as well as the 7th and 8th grade class next door. All of which have invited me to speak at their schools. I sent an email to Nancy Philips the teacher who invited me and she sent me this kind note of recommendation:
David came to speak to my seventh grade English class. He was so comfortable around my students that they hardly would let him leave! David is knowledgeable, personable, and comfortable in front of a class. It was a great opportunity to learn not only about David's job and his business, but to have someone in the classroom with his kind of energy sharing his experiences.

I was the invited guest speaker at The Canyon High School in Santa Clarita this morning. I spoke with the students about career options, networking and the importance of perseverance. I was able to promote the workshops to students who might be interested. The students were engaged and while I didn't get the chance to meet the career transitions advisor who invited me to speak. She emailed me this kind note: "Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you. I had a meeting off campus this morning, but heard from the teacher that your presentation was very good. Thanks for coming."
